Nominations for the 2010 NM Ethics in Business Awards will be accepted until 5:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2009.

Nomination Guidelines:

  • Important: see below for Nominee conflict of interest information.
  • Individuals and the business or non-profit organization they work for may not be nominated in the same year.
  • Nominations should describe how the business, not-for-profit organization or individual demonstrates business excellence and the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • Click on this link for recipient biographies from past dinner event programs. These examples are designed to give you more information about ethical behavior by past recipients.
  • Businesses and not-for-profit organizations must have been in operation a minimum of three years in New Mexico.
  • Government agencies and elected officials are not eligible.
  • An independent volunteer screening committee will evaluate all nominations received to establish the 30 final nominees for the 2010 awards. Those 30 nominees will be forwarded to the UNM Anderson School of Management for student research projects
  • Nominators and Nominees MUST be willing to be interviewed extensively by the UNM Anderson School student teams.

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

The following are not eligible for nomination for the New Mexico Ethics in Business Awards:

For-Profit Business Award Conflicts of Interest:

  • Businesses in which current members of the Samaritan Counseling Center’s Operating or Foundation Board or their spouses/other household members are principals. (i.e. CEO, President, Managing Director/Partner)
  • Businesses in which current employees of Samaritan Counseling Center or their spouses/other household members are principals. (i.e. CEO, President, Managing Director/Partner)
  • Sponsors of the NM Ethics in Business Awards event in any amount above table sponsor level in the year of nomination.

Not-For-Profit Organization Award Conflicts of Interest:

  • Organizations in which current members of Samaritan Counseling Center’s Operating or Foundation Board or their spouses/other household members are the Executive Director (or other title evidencing significant executive responsibility).
  • Organizations in which employees of Samaritan Counseling Center or their spouses/other household members are the Executive Director (or other title evidencing significant executive responsibility).
  • Sponsors of the NM Ethics in Business Awards event in any amount above table sponsor level in the year of nomination.

Individual Award Conflicts of Interest:

  • Samaritan Counseling Center Operating and Foundation Board members or their spouses/other household members during their term of office and for two years following the end of their term of service.
  • Current employees of the Samaritan Counseling Center or their spouses/other household members.
  • Community volunteers currently serving on the NM Ethics in Business Awards Steering Committee, Nominations Committee, Screening or Selection Committees and their spouses/other household members.
  • Principals (CEO, President, Managing Director/Partner, Executive Director) of sponsors of the NM Ethics in Business Awards event in any amount above table sponsor level in the year of the sponsorship.

Other Nominees That Present the Appearance of Conflict of Interest:

  • The Nominations and Screening Committees will consider any other potential conflicts and have final approval of Nominees presented to the Selection Committee.
  • Employee and volunteers’ ineligibility will end after two nomination and award cycles (following the end of their employment or term of service).
